Leaving a Legacy

Those who achieve great things aren't in it just for themselves. They build things that last beyond themselves. Things that can be enjoyed by others as well.

The timeless way to figure out if someone achieved great success is to ask yourself, "Did it continue on after they were gone? What kind of legacy did they leave behind?"

You might want to ask yourself that in regard to your business... what kind of legacy am I leaving? What kinds of things are people learning from me? What if all of a sudden I was out of my business for 6 months, what kind of legacy have I left behind?

What kind of legacy are you leaving behind for your family? What will your children grow up to be like? What will your grandchildren grow up to be like?

Highly successful people are always living their lives in order to leave a legacy.

Picture your family after you're gone, sitting around on Thanksgiving reminiscing, and they say to themselves, "It's really too bad Mom/Dad isn't here." Then they begin to have a conversation. What is that conversation about? That is your legacy.

Do they talk about how loving you were and how kind you were and how you helped them become better people? That's your legacy.

What type of legacy are you leaving?

This is really a great question to ask yourself on a daily basis. By pondering this daily, you are likely to be forced into greatness and success in all areas of your life. It will cause you to think about the difference you're making for people, how you speak to your children, siblings, friends, etc. and to just stay really tuned in to who you are being and how you want to be remembered. Try it...

And if you want to make a difference on a HUGE level, go here.

Social Media

I found a great video from Perry Belcher (if you're not familiar w/ Perry, you should watch this for the entertainment value if nothing else). He's a riot... and a VERY successful one @ that (he's made over $100 million marketing all kinds of products).

As we all know, the times are changing, and more and more people are developing networks and exploding their businesses by way of the internet.

And, unless you've been hiding under a rock, you know that Social Media sites (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc) are taking the market by storm and changing the way we do business.

Anyway, this video is only 10 minutes long, and it's a great explanation about Social Media and how it works...

Enjoy!

Competitive vs. Cooperative

One of the things I love most about the way we do business in this industry is the fact that we use a cooperative business model rather than a competitive one like they use in Corporate America. Network Marketing is actually one of the most ethical ways of doing business, and it's largely due to this business model.

The competitive business model, as used in Corporate America, is much more common. In this model, if someone wants to advance in the company they literally have to wait for someone to quit, die, or retire. It causes the workplace to become very cut-throat and competitive. I mean, you wouldn't want to share all of your success secrets w/ a business associate and help them to be more successful only to run the risk of them getting the promotion instead of you, would you? Of course not! It ends up becoming an "every man for himself" kind of environment, and often times this leads to a lack of trust, etc. It's hard to really befriend someone when your consistently competing w/ them, isn't it?

Now let's look at the cooperative business model that's used in a lot of network marketing companies. In this model, we get paid on the efforts of other people. Therefore, it's in our best interest to help others succeed. When I sponsor someone into my business, I want them to be as successful as possible. I am going to get paid for all of their efforts and successes, and I am willing to do everything I can to assure that they are successful. I will provide coaching and training for free, and I will make myself totally available for this person. Not only that, but in this model it's a level playing field. This means that there's room for all of us at the top... the company would love it if we all were constantly advancing in rank, therefore there's no competition.

Let's compare the 2 business models for a moment. The competitive model, like Corporate America, is shaped like a pyramid. The CEO is at the top of the triangle, under him are the VP's, then the middle management, etc. all the way down to the minimum wage employees who are sweeping the floor. In this model, the people at the top got there due to either their education, experience, or relationship w/someone they know at the top. There's absolutely no chance for the janitor way down at the bottom of the pyramid to ever make his way into one of the VP slots. It's highly unlikely this would ever happen w/in the political structure of this business model.

In the cooperative model on the other hand, EVERYONE comes in at the bottom. It doesn't matter what race or religion you have or what kind of degree you hold. We advance in rank based on our performance alone, and those who produce the most get paid the most. It's a completely level playing field, totally fair and ethical. Everyone has the same chance at succeeding... sometimes the ones we least expect are the ones who are the most successful! It's all about action and results, not education. As a matter of fact, because of the cooperative nature of this model, the education needed is provided by the person or team that sponsors a new person... happily and for free!

It's because of the way we do business in this industry that we are able to form these tight knit communities of people that are really there for each other through thick and thin. We are continuously helping each other rather than competing w/ each other, and the types of friendships that are formed here are deep and lasting. Rather than the "every man for himself" environment, we work in a "one for all and all for one" environment, being of service to each other and supporting each other. Having experienced both myself, I'd choose the cooperative model over the competitive one any day... it's really a lot more fun.

Community First

I went to a memorial service last night for a dear friend that passed away earlier in the week. Her name is Suzi, and she's someone that I met years ago @ the international convention for my network marketing company. She had, just prior to the convention, moved here from Australia to marry a man she met on the internet and didn't know many people. We sat on the beach together in San Diego during the breaks and discovered we had a lot in common. We became fast friends and have remained very close ever since.

The service for Suzi last night was beautiful... absolutely amazing. There was kind of an open forum where anyone who wanted to could get up and speak about their fond memories of Suzi and many beautiful rituals were performed. The thing that blew my mind, though, more than anything else about the service was the sense of community. The number of incredible people that were there and the vast, high quality community that Suzi had created in the 5 short years that she's been living in the states.

I looked around and saw a lot of people from my company... and I got really present to the most powerful and wonderful benefit that comes out of doing a business like this. COMMUNITY. The people in this community have become some of my best friends over the last 6 years that I've been doing this business. They are EXTRAORDINARY people... people that are up to something, people that are creating residual income and making a difference in the world, people that are committed to health, people that are raising money for charities and starting foundations, people that REALLY take care of each other.

I think about some of the hard times I've endured in the past 6 years and how the people from this community were there to support me every step of the way. I think about the times when I questioned whether this type of business was going to work for me, and that what kept me in it was the irreplaceable community I had created BECAUSE of this business.

We are so incredible fortunate to have the opportunity to be involved in a business like this, that not only provides unlimited earning potential and residual income, but a chance to be a part of a meaningful, extraordinary community. What could be better?

Til next time...

Getting Paid To Prospect

Getting paid to prospect… sounds like a new concept doesn’t it? Well, it did for me. I’ve been in the Network Marketing industry for years, and for most of those years, prospecting was not something I ever got paid to do. It was more like something I HAD to do to grow my business, like it or not. Luckily, it’s something I’ve gotten pretty good at, and I’ve been able to build a nice business over time.

It’s not as easy for me as it used to be, however, now that I’m a single mom. With 2 small children, it’s not as easy as it was when I was married to get out to networking events or even to make calls. If only I knew then what I know now!

With the knowledge I have now, I’m able to generate income while prospecting, so that the results of my prospecting are not the only thing that dictates my monthly paycheck. It’s awesome… I basically get paid to help people whether they join my business or not. This REALLY works for me, because the thing I love most about my business is that I get paid to help people. I get paid to help people with their health, their finances, and their time freedom. But the only way I ever get the opportunity to do that is if they actually join me in my business.

Now, I have another opportunity to help people, REGARDLESS of whether or not they want to be in business with me. I get to help people learn how to generate an additional income while working their primary business… and I get paid to do it! And the great thing is that, the more people I help in this way, the more people decide they DO want to be in business with me. It’s a win-win.

The technique I’m referring to has been a life saver for my business… I learned it through Mike Dillard’s 7 day Free Video Boot Camp. In these 7 free videos Mike explained how I could attract an endless stream of prospects to me ready to join and actually get paid to prospect.

These videos have really changed the way I do business, and I think they can help you too.

My Vision, the movie

I just created a "Mind Movie" about my vision... it's a great way to stay connected to your vision and create the reality you desire... simply by watching your movie each morning and evening. I had a blast doing it... and now my vision is clearly running through my mind all day long (words, pictures, etc)... drawing it rapidly into my reality! You can watch my movie here:

And if you're inspired to create one of your own, you can go here to find out how:

The Industry's Exploding... Ride the Wave!

So, for those of you who don't know, Network Marketing (also known as Multi-Level Marketing or Direct Sales) is an industry that is absolutely exploding. Many people are still unaware of this, and some don't even know what Network Marketing is, but before long it's likely that everyone will either be in a network marketing company, or looking for one to join.

It just makes sense. I mean, this is an industry where we are unlimited as far as how much we can earn, we make our own hours, work as much as we want, take vacation days whenever we want (and still get paid, even when we're NOT working!), and our income grows consistently over time based on our efforts w/out having to wait for a raise (we have NO BOSS!).

My job (which I love) is to educate people. It's to show people that there's another way, and then to guide them through the process and help them to achieve their goals. It's awesome. It just doesn't get any more rewarding than this. And we work under a cooperative business model as opposed to a competitive business model like the one that exists in Corporate America. We all help each other succeed... and the more we do that, the more successful we become. Pretty cool huh?

This industry is just a no-brainer. Getting involved in a network marketing company is something anybody can do (no experience or education required), and it's something people can do in addition to whatever they're currently doing to earn money, on a very part-time basis, until their income matches or exceeds their current income at which time they can choose to leave their J.O.B. and fire their boss if they want to... or at least cut back on their hours.

One of the keys to success is timing... the sooner you get involved in a network marketing opportunity, the better you will position yourself to ride the wave that's starting to happen in the industry and guarantee your success (there are still TONS of people for us to educate... and someday in the not-so-distant future that may no longer be the case). So, do your due-diligence, research some comanies, and join one now!!!!
